Our experience includes advising syndicates of lenders in relation to leveraged and investment grade facilities; equity and debt capital markets; leveraged buy-outs; borrower disputes with lenders; and settlement arrangements and enforcement options. We also routinely advise a number of leading Irish businesses on significant corporate banking facilities. Our Banking and Finance Team has recently advised on the following significant transactions:

  • Advised University College Cork on a €100 million facility agreement with the European Investment Bank for development of the campus at UCC, including construction of new teaching and research infrastructure, information and communications technology infrastructure, refurbishment of several existing university facilities and construction of new student accommodation.
  • Acting in connection with the financing of a large scale private hospital development project with a consortium of bank lenders.
  • Acting in relation to the financing of the purchase of a hotel in the region of €10m.
  • Acting on a number of refinancing projects in the hospitality sector including tax based hotel developments.
  • The team has also been involved in Bank restructuring matters and the sale of loan portfolios to primarily US private equity investors. Recent significant transactions in this area included:
  • Acting for the Special Liquidators of Irish Bank Resolution Corporation (in Special Liquidation) in the sale of various loan portfolios, including, one portfolio with a value in excess of €458m.
  • Advising Bank of Scotland (Ireland) on a loan sale project comprising over 500 properties located throughout Ireland.
  • Acting for Ulster Bank on a loan sale of a renowned resort in the west of Ireland.
