Lough Mahon Corporate Cycle Challenge raises over €25,000

Lough Mahon Corporate Challenge - Freewheeling to success

Community Spirit was the real winner in the second annual Lough Mahon Corporate Cycle Challenge which saw 70 employees from 7 Lough Mahon based companies taking to their bikes and clocking up many miles of training in preparation for a 120km trip including a climb up Coom mountain en route from LoughMahon to Bantry. Their efforts raised over €25,000 for 7 local charities.

Presenting the proceeds to the charities, Ricky Kelly of Ronan Daly Jermyn commented; “We set out this year to make the event accessible to less experienced cyclists but challenging enough to add to the sense of achievement. This was all in the hope of raising even more money for our very worthy causes. We exceeded expectations which could not have been accomplished without the efforts of the participants and generosity of the individuals and companies who donated. We’re delighted to support these important causes who do so much great work”.

Everyone’s a winner in this event“ Added Barry McDermott of PM Group. “By coming together as a business community we’re able to make a greater difference.  The challenge which is great fun also encourages employees to get active and enables them to interact with colleagues outside of the work environment and get to know people from other companies within our local business community”.

The main sponsors of the event were Ronan Daly Jermyn, PM Group, O’Leary Insurances, The Mater Private Cork, McAfee, Solar Winds and John Cleary Developments. The event was also supported by several other local businesses in the Lough Mahon area.

The Lough Mahon Corporate Challenge in conjunction with Cobh Lions Club raised funds for causes such as BUMBLEance, Cobh Lions Club Suicide Prevention Project, Cork Simon, Cork University Hospital Charity, East Cork Rapid Response and The Rainbow club.
