A Ronan Daly Jermyn legal team led by corporate partner Gillian Keating served as counsel to Barricade in its sale to UK IT security and data-protection firm, Sophos.

Based in Cork, Barricade is a pioneering start-up with a powerful behaviour-based analytics engine built on machine learning techniques. The team and technology from Barricade will strengthen Sophos’ synchronized security capabilities and its next-generation network and endpoint protection portfolio. Oxford-headquartered Sophos last year broke records with the largest initial public offering in the UK for a software company, valuing it at $1.6 billion (€1.4 billion).

Corporate Solicitor at Ronan Daly Jermyn, Sean O’Reilly, commenting on the deal, said, “Cork is fast becoming a hub for cybersecurity companies with both indigenous and multi-national firms looking to establish their European headquarters here.” He continued, “Barricade was an advantageous target not only for its powerful analytics technology, but also because of its location in Cork from a talent perspective.”

In addition to Gillian Keating, Ronan Daly Jermyn’s deal team included solicitors Sean O’Reilly and Harry Wall.
