    Cyber and Data Protection, Employment Law




    Catherine-Ellen advises a broad spectrum of clients including multinationals and SMEs from different industry sectors such as technology, pharma and agri as well as public sector clients including charities and universities. She is currently on secondment at University College Cork.

    Catherine-Ellen’s day to day work involves advising HR managers and in-house management on everyday workplace matters as well as representing clients before the WRC, the Labour Court and the civil courts. She is a problem solver and is known for being clear and strategic in her advice as well as being a good negotiator when it matters. Catherine-Ellen is also a member of Ronan Daly Jermyn’s Cyber and Data Protection Group and advises companies and charities on a broad range of data protection issues, including data breaches, data subject access requests, vetting procedures and privacy in the workplace.

    Catherine-Ellen delivers training to clients on workplace management and data protection compliance and more recently has been invited to give information and training sessions on compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation. She is a regular contributor to academic journals as well as the Industrial Relations News, Health and Safety Review and Legal Island email service on employment and data protection matters. Her publications have also featured in the Sunday Business Post and the Irish Independent and she has presented on RTE radio and TG4 on law reform and privacy related matters. 

    Catherine-Ellen lectures and tutors in Employment Law, Constitutional Law and Human Rights Law for the Law Society of Ireland. She has a particular interest in constitutional law and legislative reform and privacy matters, having worked at the Law Reform Commission and Human Rights Commission prior to qualifying as a solicitor.
