    Cyber and Data Protection, Litigation and Dispute Resolution




    Clare works in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department and has broad range of experience in Defence Litigation, Education Law and Administrative Law and has advocated in the District Court, the Circuit Court and the High Court.

    Clare practices in the area of in insurance defence work and advises on a range of contentious matters including personal injury, property damage and breach of contract, and has gained practical experience in all aspects of litigation procedure particularly in the High Court, Circuit Court, District Court and Arbitrations.

    Clare also advises on the area of child protection, and has advised statutory bodies, religious bodies, insurance companies and organisations working with children and vulnerable adults as regards their obligations under the Children First Act 2015, the updated Children First Guidance (2017), the National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Act 2012 and the Criminal Justice (Withholding of Information on Offences against Children and Vulnerable Persons) Act 2012. She regularly presents to schools, clubs, medical personnel and relevant interested commercial bodies on compliance and disclosure obligations under the child protection legislation and the day to day impact of this legislation on their organisations. 

    Clare has a keen interest in data protection, digital rights and child safety online and has participated in debates and forums in relation to cyberbullying and digital safety. She advises clients on their obligations towards children, lawful processing of children’s data, on GDPR compliance and she advises statutory bodies on submissions in the ongoing discussions surrounding the digital age of consent. 

    She contributes articles/editorials to a number of peer reviewed publications and is a regular tutor in the Law Society. Clare qualified as a solicitor in 2009.
