    Julie is a Partner in the firm's Tax Department. She was previously the Managing Partner with J.M. Burke Tax Solicitors which merged with Ronan Daly Jermyn in 2016. Julie specialises in all areas of tax disputes, tax litigation and revenue powers. She is uniquely qualified to advise in relation to tax disputes involving Irish taxpayers (both corporates and individuals) with the Irish, UK and other Revenue authorities. Julie advises at all stages of Revenue civil and criminal prosecutions including representation at Appeal Commissioner, District, Circuit, High Court, Court of Appeal level and also in negotiating settlements with Revenue. Julie also has experience in cross border Revenue proceedings (both civil and criminal).    

    Prior to establishing J.M. Burke Tax Solicitors, Julie was Director of Corporate Tax and a tax partner at A&L Goodbody and Matheson. She also worked with a London law firm CMS Cameron McKenna including a secondment with the UK Government.   

    In 2015, Julie was the chairperson of the Irish Government’s Tax Administration Liaison Audit Committee. She was the only lawyer on the Government’s 2003 Revenue Powers Group and the 2008 Commission on Taxation. Julie is a former Council Member of the Irish Taxation Institute.  

    Julie is Editor of the Irish Tax Review since 2001 and also contributes articles frequently to the Irish Tax Review, Accountancy Ireland, The Law Society Gazette, The Irish Property Valuer, the I.B.A. Journal and other national and international publications. She regularly gives papers at international and national tax conferences and lectured in Revenue Law at University College Dublin for a number of years. Julie is co-author of “Case Law for the Irish Practitioner” and is Editor of the Irish Taxation Institute’s “Revenue Audits and Investigations.” She is also currently co-authoring a new edition of the publication “Revenue Investigations and Enforcement”, published by Bloomsbury Professional, which is the only publication of its type in Ireland.
