OccasionGenius Joins Hostelworld in Strategic Acquisition

RDJ advised OccasionGenius, a US-based event discovery platform, on its acquisition by Irish hostel booking group Hostelworld Group.

OccasionGenius offers a global, city-by-city catalogue of local “Things to Do” and a unique dataset of “travel-worthy” events that inspire trip planning.

Hostelworld described the acquisition as a key step in their ambition to build “the world’s leading social travel platform”, accelerating their events capability and delivering a wealth of content that would have taken years to build organically.

The RDJ transaction team was led by Marie Gavin (Corporate and M&A) and included JP Gilmartin and Matthew Mulrooney (Corporate and M&A).
