Poppulo and Four Winds Interactive merge to create global employee communications powerhouse

Irish communication software company Poppulo has merged with Four Winds Interactive (“FWI”) in a deal that will value both firms at an estimated $1bn. The merger is backed by Vista Equity Partners, a leading global investment firm focused on enterprise software, data, and technology-enabled businesses.

Poppulo creates software to help companies manage internal staff communications and email. It employs more than 200 people in Ireland and a further 50 in Boston. Its clients include Unilever, Nestlé, Aon, Telefonica, Johnson Controls and Rolls-Royce.

Described as a “game changer” by Poppulo founder and CEO Andrew O’Shaughnessy, the merger will “enable organizations to deliver long-overdue consumer-grade workplace communications that their people are used to in their personal lives”.

The combined company will maintain operations out of offices in Denver, CO, Boston, MA, Cork, Ireland, and Luton, UK and serve more than 6,000 customers in 80 countries.

RDJ Corporate Partner Bryan McCarthy advised on the transaction supported by Sarah Slevin (Corporate), JP Gilmartin (Corporate), Mark Barrett (Tax), David McCarroll (Employment), Michelle Ryan (Corporate) and Jamie Olden (Dispute Resolution).
